The hydraulic brake system includes a master cylinder, brake lines, and calipers. Air in the system causes a spongy pedal. Bleeding the brakes by opening the bleeder valve and pressing the pedal removes air for proper braking.

The hydraulic brake system comprises the master cylinder, brake lines, hoses, calipers, and sometimes wheel cylinders. Air in the system causes spongy brake pedals and excessive travel. To rectify this, perform an air bleed procedure: open the bleeder valve, press the brake pedal to expel air, close the valve, and repeat until the pedal feels firm.
